VLBI images at 18 and 6 cm with a resolution of less than about 10 mas are presented for the compact steep spectrum radio source 3C 119. Three components of small angular size are visible at both wavelengths. A fourth compact component, which is seen only at 6 cm, is possibly the source core. All components are embedded in a complex filamentary structure with spiral-like features. The physical conditions in the source are evaluated and the unusual radio structure briefly discussed in terms of simple models: a relativistic spinning jet, a jet trapped in a (rotating) gas disk, and an expanding shell or cocoon.
