We have obtained long-slit spectra of the inner narrow-line region (NLR) in the Seyfert galaxy NGC 1068 with the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph. The spectra were obtained through a 52'' x 0.1'' slit approximately along the radio axis, and cover the wavelength range 1150 -- 10,000 Angstroms at a resolution of lambda /Delta lambda ~ 1000. The ultimate goal of these observations is to determine the reddening and physical conditions as a function of postion in the NLR. The narrow emission lines show two very distinct kinematic components, and one of these components indicates radial outflow from the nucleus. The long-slit spectra show several discrete continuum sources near the nucleus, and we explore the possible origin of these sources (e.g., scattering of the central source due to dust or electrons).
