If the inverse Hubble time is 70 +/- 7 km/sec/Mpc, then H_0(-1) is 14.0 +/- 1.4 Gyrs, very similar to the age of the globular clusters. There is little room for deceleration in such a Universe, a far cry from the elegant asymptotically stationary situation envisaged in the Einstein de Sitter model. If the age of the globular clusters is 13 +/- 2.5 Gyrs with 95% confidence, then that model is ruled out by the expansion rate constraint at a similar confidence level. This is an independent indication that the geometry of the Universe suggested in the last few years by fainter than expected high redshift supernovae may be correct.
