Galaxy evolution in visible light is now fairly well understood via HST surveys, including the Hubble Deep Field and Medium Deep Survey. These results, taken together with previous data on the correlations between X-ray and optical fluxes, allow us to predict the X-ray evolution of the major galaxy morphological types with redshift. Evolution in the ratio of X-ray to blue luminosity would produce significant changes to these predictions, and this possibility is explored following the work of White and Ghosh on the evolution in the numbers of low-mass X-ray binaries. The consequences for deep surveys with AXAF, XMM and future observatories is summarized.
