Based on independent inspection of a Swift XRT observation of the field of IGR J06523+5334 from 2011 January 10 UT, I observed the suggested optical counterpart of XRT Source #1 (Landi et al., ATel #3185), which is listed in the USNO B1.0 catalog at coordinates (J2000.0) R.A. = 06h 52m 31.407s, Decl. = +53d 31' 31.55", with magnitudes B2 = 18.80, R2 = 18.12, I2 = 17.57. Using the Hiltner 2.4.m telescope on 2011 January 14 UT, I obtained a 20 minute exposure spectrum with the Ohio State Multi-Object Spectrograph (OSMOS) covering the wavelength range 3970-6880 Angstroms with 4 Angstrom resolution.
