This apparition yielded the first South Equatorial Belt Revival for fifteen years. As these great SEB disturbances subsided, there were two striking changes: an ochre colour across the SEB (merging with the equatorial colouration), and a massive dark band which encircled the South Tropical Zone (the fifth 'South Tropical Dislocation'). The Great Red Spot and the three white ovals acquired dark borders but the STB did not revive. In the North Equatorial Belt, a very large 'rift' was succeeded by a new set of dark 'barges'. The 'North Temperate Disturbance' persisted for a third year, and the NNTBs jetstream was still active.
