The G 1.6-0.025 giant molecular cloud consists of clumps with sizes ranging from 3 arcsec (0.1 pc) to 5 arcmin (10 pc). Column densities of hydrogen and methanol in the large clumps are about (1-4) x 10 exp 23 and (1-2) x 10 exp 15/sq cm, respectively. Hydrogen densities in the large clumps vary from 100 to 5000/cu cm and in the the small clumps reach values greater than 10 exp 6/cu cm. The high temperature (500-100 K) in the cloud is partially a consequence of collisions with individual clumps. Shocks associated with these collisions can lead to enhancements of methanol abundance in some small-scale clumps with masses not less than 70-300 solar masses, which exhibit spike features in the 4(-1) - 3(0)E line. The sensitivity of a set of methanol lines to physical parameters is considered on the basis of statistical equilibrium calculations.
