Melted-boundary-layer hydrodynamic instability is considered as a possible mechanism of the ablation of meteor bodies in the earth's atmosphere. Random perturbations in the form of chaotic waves from whose peaks tiny droplets are separated appear depending on deceleration, the size of the meteor body, its viscosity, and melted layer thickness. This process can determine one of the forms of meteoroid ablation. Simple theoretical estimates for the droplets' mean size range are obtained.
