We observed the Type IIn supernova SN 2008iy (CBET 1780) with the Very Large Array (VLA) on 2009 December 26.57 UT at 8.46 GHz band. We clearly detect radio emission from the supernova with a flux density of 192+/-36 uJy. The supernova was not detected in an earlier VLA observation on 2009 April 24.44 UT. We thank the VLA staff for making these observations possible.
