Nanoflares occurring in sub-resolution strands have been long invoked as strong candidates for the heating of active region (AR) coronal loops. However, the frequent occurrence of nanoflares requires the steady presence of flare-hot plasma in the active region, which has been difficult to detect so far. We report on the analysis of multi-filter Hinode/XRT observations of an active region, which may show the widespread presence of 10 MK plasma.
