The emissivity of the local interstellar medium in the forbidden C II 158-micron, forbidden N II 205-micron, and forbidden N II 122-micron lines is derived from the column densities of these ions in their fine-structure excited levels, estimated from Copernicus observations of their UV lines. A comparison with recent larger-scale observations of the visible and FIR lines of N(+) suggests that the local emissivities are anomalously high, especially if they are due to the diffuse ionized medium. It is shown that the Galactic emission in the N(+) FIR lines is dominated by H II regions. The origin of the C(+) is also discussed. The data under consideration are consistent with the Galactic ratio of 10 between the 158- and 105-micron lines observed by the COBE satellite.
