Gamma-Ray Bursts: Space Distribution, Gamma-Ray Bursts: Statistics

Scientific paper

Spatial distribution over the celestial sphere of 732 gamma-ray bursts is analyzed. The bursts, having minimum errors on position determination, were selected from a total number of 1123 bursts, recorded by the Compton Gamma-ray Observatory (CGRO) for three years of observation in the BATSE experiment. The author has not discovered any asymmetry in the data of the third BATSE catalog varying the scale of analysis from the whole celestial sphere down to 10°. With high probability the distribution is isotropic within the limits of accuracy of coordinate measurement.
