Nearby small bodies hold special interest to the study of the solar system, as compositional preserves of solar system formation, and as means of volatile transport to, and impactors of, terrestrial planets. WISE will likely discover ~500 NEOs, ~10^5 MBAs, and some 10s of comets, spanning distances of a few hundredths of an AU out to ~10AU. Many of these new objects must be characterized at visual wavelengths before they are lost, or become too distant to detect from their reflected sunlight. We are proposing to obtain comprehensive photometry on the most compelling new southern-sky objects using the SOAR telescope while they remain accessible to comparative study with their mid-IR detections, i.e. soon after discovery.
