Nuclear reactions involving proton-rich radioactive isotopes are important in the hot CNO cycle occuring in novae and X-ray bursts. Despite numerous studies, substantial uncertainties have persisted in some key reaction rates. Measurements using beams of ^17F (t_1/2 = 64 s) and ^18F (t_1/2 = 1.8 h) at ORNL's Holifield Radioactive Ion Beam Facility (HRIBF) have resolved important uncertainties in the ^14O(α,p)^17F, ^17F(p,γ)^18Ne, and ^18F(p,α)^15O reaction rates. Properties of astrophysically-important states in ^18Ne and ^19Ne were determined by measuring (p,p) and (p,α) excitation functions. Thin polypropylene targets were bombarded with radioactive ion beams, and reaction products were detected in coincidence by arrays of silicon strip detectors and a gas ionization counter. Transfer reactions are also being used to study the single-particle structure of these nuclei. Recent results will be presented and the astrophysical implications discussed.
