Data from the Voyager 2's January 1986 Uranus system flyby are discussed. The helium abundance of 12-16 percent derived from infrared and radio data fits model predictions, while magnetic field findings are unexplained. The field's considerable strength argues for a dynamo source in a hot conductive liquid ocean lying between the core and the outer gas atmosphere. A low-level ultraviolet electrical emission was noted on the planets day side, and a new satellite, 1986U9, and a new ring, 1986U1R, at 50,000 miles from the surface, were detected. Deep valleys detected photographically on the surface of Ariel may be due to tension fault systems, and evidence of valley floor young deposits was seen. Due to Image Motion Compensation of the spacecraft, finely detailed photos of Miranda were obtained, and three sets of tracks are described. Other observations include the discovery of dust in the rings.
