The problem of radio wave generation in the magnetospheres of relatively old pulsars is essential for explaining the origin of the emission of such pulsars. Here, the possibility of radio wave excitation in pulsar magnetospheres is investigated with allowance for the specific characteristics of particle motion in the dipole magnetic field of a pulsar. Both nonresonance and resonance generation mechanisms are examined. It is found that the nonresonance mechanism is an unlikely mechanism of wave generation, whereas the resonance mechanism is a feasible wave generation mechanism for pulsars whose age is greater than 10,000 yr.
