The analysis of absorption lines with redshift of the cosmic void in Bootes, which were discovered by Brosch and Gondhalekar (1984), enables to propose the following alternative as to where the gas producing the lines is located: (1) in numerous dwarf galaxies provided their concentration in the void be greater than 3×102Mpc-3, (2) in a substantial part of the overall volume of the void. The choice between these possibilities depends on which of the mechanisms, photoionization or collisional ionization, is responsible for the ionization state of Si and C. Some tests to prove the expected shell form for both galaxies and the processed gas distribution are proposed; discovery of such a bubble would be the decisive argument for the explosional origin of the void.
