Most pulsars lose rotation energy by emitting magnetic dipole radiation, with the field component normal to the neutron star spin axis weakening on a time scale of order 10 Myr. Pulsar evolutionary tracks in the (spin period, spindown) plane are discussed. The evolution span is 5-10 Myr for most observed pulsars, ranging from 10-100 Myr. A pulsar will turn off and its evolution will end not simply because the pulses carry a weaker radio flux but because pulse nulling has lowered the luminosity.
