Many years of photographic images of bright meteors in the skies over the research station at Dushanbe were analyzed to develop an incident flux density (IFD) for meteors. Account was taken of the effective collecting area to formulate a differential mass distribution for the meteors. The quantity of meteors is assumed to increase as the mass decreases. The IFD is then a function of the number of meteors over a threshold value, the effective collecting area, and a correction to allow for the observing method. The model is applied to the Dushanbe data, which include 226,000 meteors with bright trails recorded during 6800 hr of observations. The results are compared with data from other models, illustrating the differences that can be generated if instrumental selectivity is not accounted for.
