In some types of the gamma-ray burst central engines, a significant energy input into the fireballs may in principle continue for a longer time scale and pose important impacts on afterglow emissions. If the injection is Poynting-flux-dominated rather than kinetic-energy-dominated, the accumulation of the fireball energy may change the global blastwave dynamics, which brings an achromatic bumping signature in the afterglow lightcurves. We discuss the condition of such a signature. A millisecond magnetar pulsar as the central engine is discussed in detail as an example. .
