It is pointed out that existing photometry in the Geneva and the
uvby-system does not support HD 49333 to be a giant. It is a foreground
star at roughly half the distance to NGC 2287. Therefore, the
anomalously large radius derived by Lanz (1985) reduces to the proper
value for mid to late-B type stars of luminosity class V.
