The use of the Hipparcos satellite to determine the distances of Ae/Be stars is proposed. Ground based spectroscopic parallaxes are often in error because they assume a luminosity class V, whereas pre-main sequence objects are above the main sequence. Hipparcos can obtain geometrical parallaxes with a factor of error much 2. Data can be used to investigate the evolution of stable main sequence A and B stars, since Ae/Be stars are thought to be their predecessors. Because Ae/Be stars are usually associated with T Tauri stars, and are located in dark cloud regions, data can be used to study these phenomena, which are too faint to be observed directly by Hipparcos.
