Radial velocity and five-color photometric data are used to investigate possible companions of 15 Cepheids in the period range of 3-7 d. One new spectroscopic binary, AZ Cen, is revealed, and the spectroscopic binary nature of V350 Sgr is confirmed. Results indicate that R TrA, AP Sgr, AG Cru and V496 Aql may also be spectroscopic binaries. The slope of the trajectory on the (V-I)/(B-V) diagram is suggested as a good test for the existence of a companion, while individual photometric tests are generally found to be of limited reliability for predicting the binary nature of a particular Cepheid. Results also indicate that the frequency of yellow or red Cepheid companions may be appreciable, although smaller than the frequency of blue companions. It is concluded that the frequency of binary Cepheids is between 20 and 40%, which agrees with those estimates of Madore (1977), Pel (1978), and Madore and Fernie (1980).
