A precise optical position and proper motion in the FK4 system of the nebular variable T Tauri has been derived from astrograph plates covering more than 50 years of epoch difference. Comparison with a recently derived VLA-radio position by Cohen et al. (1982) yields a significant difference which confirms the offset of about 0.8 arcsec quoted by these authors. The new optical position is derived from short exposure plates, showing no indication of disturbing nebulosity. A systematic shift of the optical position due to nebulosity is therefore questioned. The physical connection of the radio and optical emission centers probably needs further confirmation.
