Scientific paper

The paper sets forth a procedure for calculating the index polynomial of a gradient-index corrector plate. The method is third-order and takes into account spherochromatism of the corrector plate. A proper balance between the third- and fifth-order spherical aberration is achieved along with a balance of spherochromatism and paraxial chromatic aberration. The design has a rather large zonal error. Off-axis aberration is dominated by fifth-order oblique spherical aberration
