Results of Davis' lab experiments, concerned with the generation of Ar-37 and neutrino capture, are reviewed for the period 1970-1976. These experiments are to be regarded, it is argued, as a touchstone for standard theories of solar structure and evolution and as an aid in testing different aspects of cosmology and cosmogony. In particular, the solar neutrino riddle is considered as a way of testing the standard Friedmann cosmology of the universe, standard models of solar system evolution as well as ice-age climatology on the earth.
