We are conducting a systematic study of the mid-IR properties of systems containing compact objects utilizing both archival and targeted observations obtained with the Spitzer Space Telescope. Here we present our results for a subgroup of the low mass X-ray binaries (XRBs), the Z sources. These neutron star XRBs are the brightest X-ray sources in the Galaxy and are named after the track they trace in the X-ray color-color diagram. Most of these sources are too faint at mid-IR wavelengths to be observable from the ground, so this study provides the very first comprehensive look at the mid-IR emission of these objects. The particular goals of our project encompass: to establish the mid-IR spectral energy distribution, to search for the signatures of jets, circumbinary disks, low mass or planetary companions and debris disks, and to study the local environment of these sources.
