This proposal will acquire data to be used to validate proper scaling and polarities of the inputs used and outputs produced by the Pointing Safemode Electronics Assembly (PSEA). This provides the backup attitude control function in the event of a serious problem with the DF224 computer. The PSEA will be placed in test mode which will power the safemode computer but will inhibit the output of commands to the reaction wheels and magnetic torquers. Small 5deg maneuvers will be executed about each vehicle axis to provide the necessary input torques. After the polarity slews are completed a bias estimate of the Retrieval Mode Gyro Assembly (RMGA) will be made by again placing the PSEA in test mode. FHST maps will be used to obtain an attitude reference. The resulting biases will be uplinked to the PSEA.
