A series of recent measurements of protons and α-particles is providing an improved determination of the normalization and shape of the cosmic-ray spectrum. This is a necessary component for a more precise calculation of production of antiprotons in the interstellar medium and of neutrinos in the atmosphere. From this perspective, I review calculations of the atmospsheric neutrino beam for neutrino oscillations and of the equilibrium antiproton spectrum in interstellar space.
