The Fermi Large Area Telescope has been designed and optimized for the detection of gamma rays. However, as our results on the electron+positron spectrum demonstrate, we are able to identify and reconstruct signals from charged cosmic-ray particles as well. I will display the implementation of some methods for the identification of proton signals in the LAT, as well as the prospects for measuring the cosmic-ray protons spectrum.
