Clusters of galaxies have usually been thought of as good "fair samples" of the universe. But comparison of the baryonic fraction in clusters with the mean baryonic fraction implied by WMAP results implies that assumption is not true, unless we are missing baryons in clusters. I will review recent results regarding the baryon fraction in groups and clusters of galaxies, including the distribution of gas relative to the dark matter, the contribution to the baryon fraction by stars. Such studies are important to carry out, since measuring the evolution of the mean and scatter of the baryon fraction is necessary if we want to use techniques that exploit X-ray gas fractions for ever more accurate cosmological parameter estimates.
