The equation for the poloidal field of an axisymmetric plasma-ejecting rotator is obtained, with the plasma pressure and gravity field of the star taken into account. In real physical systems, such as solar wind or relativistic wind from pulsars, the velocity of the ejected plasma along the poloidal field line at infinity exceeds the fast magnetosonic velocity. It is shown that no continuous solution of the problem satisfying the above condition exists. The real physical solution has a discontinuity at the Alfven surface of the magnetosphere.
