A conductive model of lunar heating is described by a general heat conduction equation with a boundary condition of free emission from the surface into a medium with zero temperature. It is suggested that the stratification of radioactive sources in the lunar upper crust, at depths of 80-90 km, may explain the observed nonlinear heat radiation from the lunar surface.
