Scientific paper

Two models for the formation of the distant planets in the solar system (i.e., Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) are presented: solid-body accumulation and the evolution of condensations. In the first model, consideration of the ejection of bodies from the feed zone of the growing planet did not lead to a solution of the time-of-growth problem for the distant planets. On the other hand, the second model provides a solution not only to the time-of-growth problem but also to the sufficient-matter problem.
