This paper compares in detail the spectra of SMC supergiants with those
of galactic supergiants. The helium and metallic lines are weaker in the
former, but not uniformly so for all metals. Also the Balmer jump is
small compared with standards, and some stars have quite large hydrogen
profiles. Other peculiar features are described.
