The effect of some physical parameters (the continuum opacity, the ratio of scattering over absorption, and the temperature profile) on the emergent intensity of a resonant scattering line is analyzed by using an approach combining an accurate treatment of continuum transfer in supernovae envelopes with a line transfer treatment based on Sobolev's approximation. It is shown that the continuum opacity in supernova envelopes can produce an important attenuation in the emergent intensity of the line. The assumed temperature structure in the envelope is shown to have a primary effect on the emergent line intensity through the continuum radiant field.
