The completion of the BATSE 5B Spectroscopy Catalog, containing peak flux and fluence spectral fits for 2141 gamma-ray bursts observed by BATSE, allows for unprecedented studies of the spectral shape parameters that may lead to a better understanding of the emission properties of bursts. I will focus on the properties of E_peak. First of all, the reported narrow width of the observed distribution must be verified, as well as the general trend of the distribution centroid as a function of observed intensity. Next, I will look at the the newly-found hardness/fluence ratio classification parameter, where E_peak plays a key role. Finally, I will examine new physical interpretations for E_peak, in light of recent Fermi observations.
