The explosion of a 61-solar mass Wolf-Rayet star via the pair creation instability mechanism is studied using a newly developed code capable of handling the optically thick and thin regions of a star in an appropriate and unified scheme. Particular attention is given to the effects of oxygen recombination and nickel and cobalt radioactive decay on the shape of the light curves. The possibility that certain observed phenomena might be related to explosions of massive Wolf-Rayet stars is explored.
