X-Ray Pulsars, Neutron Stars
Scientific paper
The Anomalous X-ray Pulsars are one of the most enigmatic classes of galactic X-ray sources. Possible models that have been proposed to explain their peculiar properties involve isolated neutron stars powered either by accretion from a fossil disk or by the decay of a very strong magnetic field (1014 - 1015 G). We briefly describe some recent results supporting their connection with another class of sources, the Soft Gamma-ray Repeaters, which are thought to be strongly magnetized neutron stars.
