We present the Fe XIV 530.3 nm ("green line") coronal index (CI) of solar activity for 1998. A systematic increase of CI was observed from January to October 1998. Toward the end of the year the rate of increase slowed remarkably. A comparison of CI with similar indices of solar activity (2800 MHz radio flux, the Wolf sunspot number and the SUSIM Mg II index) shows a good correlation.
