Observations of Comet Kohoutek and the discovery of five new comets during the course of 1974 are reported. One of the new comets (Bradfield) approached the brightness of Comet Kohoutek. Among the other comets observed during the year was one exhibiting the largest perihelion distance on record; another was of interest because it appeared to fade out completely during the observations. Orbital element calculations for several comets under study during the year are presented.
