Submillimeter Fourier spectrometers are considered as possible instruments for the detection of line emission from molecular clouds. The minimum H2 density required to obtain molecular line emission is estimated as a function of wave number for several molecules. Instrument requirements and suitable telescopes for the detection of such emissions are examined. It is shown that the detection of line emission from molecular clouds depends on several parameters, such as cloud density, collapse velocity, molecular column density, transition frequency, and the size of the telescope used.
