The force-free character of the magnetic field in the fluid interior of a static neutron star is investigated. It is found that the effects of a finite temperature gradient can upset the force-free configuration which might otherwise exist, but that under some possible conditions of temperature and density the magnetic field in the deep interior may indeed be force-free.
