Circular periodic orbits existing either inside or outside the particle resonance in galaxies are replaced by elongated trapped orbits around the maxima of the potential L4 and L5. The evolution of an orbit from circular to trapped-elongated is reviewed with reference to the critical value of the Hamiltonian h. Also presented is a numerical analysis of periodic orbits trapped at the inner Lindblad resonance. A spiral model of the Milky Way has thrown up an orbit of the type described reaching the distance of the sun.
