The problem of the motion of an equatorial satellite in the J2 field is formulated in variables of a perturbed harmonic oscillator. The Poincare method of analytic continuation is applied to obtain periodic solutions, of which two classes appear. The first is in a moving frame for continuous values of the eccentricity of the generating ellipse, and depends on the variation of the energy around the energy level of the generating orbit. The second class of solutions is in a fixed frame for discrete values of the eccentricity, and corresponds to a well-defined energy level.
