The present proposal aims to verify recent modelling of star formation process in the Coalsack, that is a region where no signatures of protostars have ever been observed. We propose to map the densest regions using CO lines with the Mopra telescope. These cores or globules might be the current or future sites where protostars form. The current model deals exclusively with the formation of a dusty ring around a minimum extinction in one of the CO globules (G2) inside the Coalsack. It explains this morphology in near-IR extinction map by an external compression wave that has not yet converged onto the centre of the core. It implies that the initial turbulent energy in globule was low. CO line observations will be able to both measure the turbulence activity (velocity dispersion) as well as check the modelled profiles of the spectal lines due to infall mechanisms through the densest globules in the Coalsack.
