We review recent progress in understanding the nature and origin of
globules in planetary nebulae. Highlights include molecular line imaging
of individual globules in the Helix Nebula, the Hubble Helix project,
optical imaging of globules in more distant nebulae, and new
perspectives on the formation and evolution of globules.
