The experiment POLRAD onboard the INTERBALL-2 satellite, aimed at studying the Auroral Kilometric Radiation (AKR) is described. A short description of the POLRAD instrument, a radio frequency multicomponent spectrometer for the frequency range from 4 kHz to 2 MHz, is given. Some AKR observations are presented to demonstrate the first experimental results.
