It is proposed to explore at high spatial and moderate spectral resolution the circumstellar shell around Nova Cyg 1992.The study will be conducted using the medium and narrow band FOC filters centered on bright nebular emission features of magnesium,carbon and oxygen to obtain the shell position and morphology. A near UV prism will allow for the first time to obtain the spectrum of the shell itself without the stellar contamination in order to determine precisely its chemical composition.This is a time critical observation since the shell will very quickly fade to invisibility within 6 months.
