Threshold contents are tabulated for 17 elements and 6 diatomic molecules in the Martian and Venusian atmospheres. In particular, it is shown that the sodium content in these planetary atmospheres is smaller by an order of magnitude than in the earth's atmosphere. This finding is of interest in that the presence of the metals and ions studied (Fe, Al, Ca, Na, Ni, Cr, Mn, Ti, K, Co, Sc, Cu, Li, Sr, Ca(+), Ti(+), SC(+)) in planetary atmospheres must be attributed to evaporation of meteoric matter.
